The Idea

In 2002 while working for a small manufacturer, one of our founders was tasked to determine the best way to tackle a set of market challenges that is common among small and midsize manufacturers and distributors. Specifically:

  • Small and midsize manufacturers and distributors are out-spent on the major search engines
  • Small and midsize manufacturers are increasing locked out of large channels
  • Small and midsize manufacturers cannot sell directly to end-consumers without alienating distributors
  • Disparate ecommerce sites cannot achieve economy of scale
  • Picking up new products and opening new markets is time-consuming and risky for small and midsize distributors

So we started asking questions: What if there is a way for small and midsize manufacturers and distributors to combine resources to market and sell products online? What if manufacturers can open direct-to-consumer channels and such a model actually improves relationship with distributors? What if there are centralized, fully-managed ecommerce stores that win orders for distributors and fairly distribute profit? What if all this can be done while reducing IT and marketing costs?

Incego was created to be a part of the answer to these multifaceted marketing challenges. Our solution is based on the founding principle that small and midsize manufacturers and distributors using new, innovative technology can more effectively and efficient compete with larger rivals.
